Anche se ci troviamo all\u2019interno in una grande propriet\u00e0 con funzione non esclusivamente privata, il settore in cui alloggiava il padrone di casa \u00e8 ben riconoscibile perch\u00e9 la zona residenziale presentava una simile conformazione in tutte le ville di et\u00e0 imperiale; qui ad <span style=\"color: #000000;\"><a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"https:\/\/albadocilia.cultura.gov.it\/?page_id=1249#alba-docilia\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em><u>Alba Docilia<\/u><\/em><\/a><\/span>\u00a0la <i>pars urbana<\/i> era rivolta a sud, ossia verso il mare, collocata su un leggero rilievo, ed era formata da una serie di stanze con varie funzioni: ambienti per accogliere gli ospiti, camere da letto, sale da pranzo.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-50 elementor-inner-column elementor-element elementor-element-753c1d0\" data-id=\"753c1d0\" data-element_type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-767ff15 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"767ff15\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Questi spazi si affacciavano, circondandoli, su due porticati coperti (<em><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"https:\/\/albadocilia.cultura.gov.it\/?page_id=1249#peristylium\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><u>peristylia<\/u><\/a><\/span>)<\/em>, che a loro volta davano accesso a due rispettive aree aperte (<span style=\"color: #000000;\"><a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"https:\/\/albadocilia.cultura.gov.it\/?page_id=1249#impluvium\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em><u>impluvia<\/u><\/em><\/a><\/span>), di forma rettangolare, una pi\u00f9 piccola, a ovest e una pi\u00f9 grande, a est.<br \/>Questi cortili avevano, come \u00e8 noto, molteplici funzioni: erano innanzi tutto aree a cielo aperto, che raccoglievano luce per le varie stanze, potevano avere la funzione di <em><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"https:\/\/albadocilia.cultura.gov.it\/?page_id=1249#impluvium\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><u>impluvium<\/u><\/a><\/span>,<\/em> ossia di raccolta dell\u2019acqua piovana ed essere anche aree verdi, coltivate a giardino.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section maggiormente nel dettaglio: per quanto riguarda la <a href=\"https:\/\/albadocilia.cultura.gov.it\/?page_id=1249#pars-urbana\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><em><u>pars urbana<\/u><\/em><\/span><\/a>, disponiamo sia di testimonianze strutturali, che ancora vediamo in posto\u00a0 \u0336\u00a0 ossia le fondamenta dei muri che formavano gli ambienti, fatte di ciottoli di fiume e malta\u00a0 \u0336\u00a0 sia di reperti rinvenuti durante gli scavi che si sono succeduti fin dalla fine del 1800 (accedi da qui al contenuto speciale <u>\u201c<span style=\"color: #000000;\"><a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"https:\/\/albadocilia.cultura.gov.it\/?page_id=4579\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">La storia degli scavi ma non solo<\/a><\/span>\u201d<\/u>). Essi sono stati raccolti, catalogati e collocati in appositi luoghi di tutela.<br \/>Ci\u00f2 che possiamo vedere oggi visitando l\u2019Area Archeologica di <span style=\"color: #000000;\"><a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"https:\/\/albadocilia.cultura.gov.it\/?page_id=1249#alba-docilia\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em><u>Alba Docilia<\/u><\/em><\/a><\/span> ci consente, anche se solo in parte, di immaginare come fosse la <span style=\"color: #000000;\"><a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"https:\/\/albadocilia.cultura.gov.it\/?page_id=1249#villa\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em><u>villa<\/u><\/em><\/a><\/span> in epoca romana e come si svolgesse la vita delle persone al suo interno. Grazie al lavoro degli archeologi, sono le strutture a parlarci, insieme ai reperti rinvenuti. E\u2019 pressoch\u00e9 certo, come accennato, che i cortili a cielo aperto fossero due, uno pi\u00f9 piccolo a ovest, ancora oggi ben riconoscibile, e uno pi\u00f9 ampio a est, individuato in parte durante le campagne di scavo degli anni Settanta del Novecento e successivamente ricoperto dalla attuale pavimentazione. Il cortile pi\u00f9 piccolo ospitava, molto probabilmente, una vasca rivestita in laterizi e cocciopesto, non pi\u00f9 visibile, con funzione di bacino di raccolta dell\u2019acqua piovana (<span style=\"color: #000000;\"><a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"https:\/\/albadocilia.cultura.gov.it\/?page_id=1249#impluvium\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em><u>impluvium<\/u><\/em><\/a><\/span><u>)<\/u> che defluiva verso nord\/ovest attraverso una canaletta, ancora oggi visibile, costruita sotto i piani pavimentali, non pi\u00f9 esistenti.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-50 elementor-inner-column elementor-element elementor-element-e0e8d49\" data-id=\"e0e8d49\" data-element_type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-491df42 elementor-widget__width-initial elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"491df42\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Sui quattro lati dell\u2019<span style=\"color: #000000;\"><a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"https:\/\/albadocilia.cultura.gov.it\/?page_id=1249#impluvium\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em><u>impluvium<\/u><\/em><\/a><\/span> si affacciava il porticato coperto che comunicava direttamente con le varie stanze, disposte una accanto all\u2019altra, che lo circondavano.<br \/>Sappiamo inoltre che alcuni dei locali a nord dei cortili e dei porticati, erano dotati di un sistema di riscaldamento tramite circolazione d\u2019aria calda che scorreva sotto i pavimenti, in intercapedini sorrette da colonnine di laterizi (<span style=\"color: #000000;\"><a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"https:\/\/albadocilia.cultura.gov.it\/?page_id=1249#hypocaustum\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em><u>hypocaustum<\/u><\/em><\/a><\/span>) e all\u2019interno dello spessore delle pareti.<br \/>Grazie ai reperti rinvenuti, \u00e8 certo che gli spazi della\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"https:\/\/albadocilia.cultura.gov.it\/?page_id=1249#pars-urbana\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>pars urbana<\/em><\/a><\/span><\/span> fossero ornati mediante un <u><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"https:\/\/albadocilia.cultura.gov.it\/?page_id=5187\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">apparato decorativo e architettonico (link all\u2019area tematica<\/a><\/span>)<\/u> di grande gusto estetico e che le persone che vi abitavano svolgevano le abituali attivit\u00e0 di vita quotidiana, servendosi, esattamente come noi oggi, di oggetti di uso comune: alcuni di essi li conosciamo grazie al fatto che, per la maggior parte frammentari, sono stati rinvenuti negli strati di terreno scavati dagli archeologi all\u2019interno dei vani.<br \/>Si tratta per lo pi\u00f9 di manufatti comunemente utilizzati in cucina, per la preparazione e la cottura dei cibi, o sulla tavola e di lucerne.<br \/>Qui vi proponiamo reperti in ceramica ma non dobbiamo dimenticare che molto spesso comparivano anche oggetti in vetro (bottiglie, bicchieri, coppe) e, sulle mense pi\u00f9 ricche, contenitori in metallo, anche Non un piatto di poco conto: si trattava di un oggetto di pregio, costoso, prodotto da artigiani specializzati (italici), con argilla fine e verniciato. Questo tipo di stoviglia era molto in voga durante l&#8217;impero romano. Abbiamo deciso di mostrarlo, seppur conservato solo in parte, poich\u00e8 presenta al centro il marchio del ceramista che lo ha prodotto. Di coppe ve ne erano di molti tipi e dimensioni, spesso decorate, e servivano per bere o comunque per i liquidi (acqua e vino). L&#8217;esemplare qui accanto \u00e8 stato fabbricato in Africa settentrionale e appartiene alla classe ceramica della <a style=\"color: #ffffff;\" href=\"https:\/\/albadocilia.cultura.gov.it\/?page_id=1249#terra-sigillata\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">terra sigillata<\/a>, come i reperti che vedi descritti sopra. e di forma ovoidale. L&#8217;artigiano riusciva, molto abilmente, a creare bicchieri per bere di pregio con argilla talmente fine e depurata da consentirgli di ottenere pareti sottili quasi come quelle di vetro o di metallo. Spesso infatti sulla tavola erano presenti bicchieri in vetro soffiato, e anche negli scavi della villa di <span style=\"color: #ffffff;\"><a style=\"color: #ffffff;\" Nella loro interezza queste coppe dovevano essere bellissime, oggetti di lusso, che solo le famiglie abbienti potevano permettersi. Esse non furono fabbricate in territorio italico e nemmeno in nord Africa. Questo particolare tipo di sigillata veniva prodotta in un&#8217;altra zona dell&#8217;impero, ossia nella provincia della Gallia (l&#8217;odierna Francia, per semplificare), in particolare nella Gallia meridionale. Riconosciamo il luogo di provenienza dal tipo di decorazione e dallo stile, particolarmente ricco e\u00a0 raffinato. Tra i motivi decorativi presenti su questi pezzi, si riconoscono\u00a0 animali, figure umane e <span style=\"font-size: 16px; font-style: normal; font-weight: 400;\">elementi vegetali<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">. Il motivo fondamentale \u00e8 sicuramente legato alla sua funzione, ossia creare uno spazio di luce in una stanza. Ne esistevano di svariate tipologie, potevano essere di argilla, di bronzo, di metallo prezioso e spesso erano decorate. Ad Alba Docilia ne sono state rinvenute diverse, in frammenti e integre.
